A Description of our Services
Psychological and Education Testing and Counseling
Psychological and Education Testing and Counseling for Children Including ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Learning Delays and Mood Disorders.
Educational and Psychological testing may provide diagnoses explaining the causes of many behavioral issues as well as learning differences.
Behavior Therapy
Applied Behavior Analysis is a functional-based approach to analyzing, modifying, and teaching new skill sets. As a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), I use a naturalistic approach by taking the child’s lead in constructing natural reinforcement and consequences to address the function of behavior, meanwhile teaching alternative behaviors that serve to fulfill the same purpose. Within a treatment package, I work alongside families to facilitate research-based interventions across settings to increase the quality of life for youth in our community.
ABA therapy integrates emotional regulation through Acceptance and Commitment, as well as social skills training to enhance Theory of Mind and Central Coherence. Ongoing assessments and evaluations drive data-based decisions regarding goals to increase functional communication, independence, behavior, and adaptive skills. My mission is to increase opportunities for children by maintaining meaningful experiences that enhance social-emotional well-being.
Services:
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA Therapy): Comprehensive treatment planning based on ongoing assessment and evaluation to address increasing adaptive skills and decrease challenging behaviors. ABA therapy is a research-based intervention for individuals with Autism and developmental delays that involves the direct teaching and training of care providers as a cohesive partnership. Appropriate for individuals with behavioral, social, and communication challenges.
Functional / Academic Skills Training: Individually designed instruction of target skills to increase access to the community and environment. Appropriate for individuals seeking academic, social, and independent skill acquisition, including ADHD and learning disabilities.
School Collaboration: Linking home, school, and community through coaching, consultation, and training in order to gain a deeper understanding of neurodiversity and best practices for behavioral interventions. Appropriate for early learning centers, instructional institutions, and IEP / IFSP teams.
Supervision: For individuals pursuing BCBA, BCaBA, or RBT certifications. Collaboration with service providers including Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, Speech-Language Pathologists, and Counselors to provide the most effective outcome.
Occupational Therapy
The Vail Mind Center provides a wide range of occupational therapy services for children with a variety of needs, including: autism spectrum disorders, dyspraxia, ADHD, dyslexia, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, sensory processing problems, and other developmental disorders/deficits. We have experience with many children with complex medical histories and diagnoses. While we recognize and take very seriously the implications of different syndromes and conditions, we tailor therapy plans for the individual needs of each child and family. The Vail Mind Center offers pediatric occupational therapy, evaluation, and intervention for the following issues:
- Fine motor delays
- Gross motor delays
- Feeding issues (fatigue, drooling, choking, gagging, limited food choices)
- Developmental skills/milestones
- Sensory processing issues
- Handwriting issues
- Activities of Daily Living/self-care
- School performance and success
- Motor planning and coordination issues
- Visual perceptual deficits (dyslexia/dysgraphia/dyscalculia tendencies)
Speech Therapy
The Vail Mind Center provides a wide range of speech therapy services for children with a variety of needs, including: autism spectrum disorders, apraxia, global and specified speech delays, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, sensory processing problems, oromyofunctional disorders, stuttering disorders, and other developmental disorders/deficits. We have experience with many children with complex medical histories and diagnoses. While we recognize and take very seriously the implications of different syndromes and conditions, we tailor therapy plans for the individual needs of each child and family. The Vail
Mind Center offers pediatric speech therapy, evaluation, and intervention for the following
issues:
- Articulation (pronunciation of speech sounds)
- Childhood apraxia of speech
- Cognitive impairments
- Expressive language (using words and sentences to express thoughts)
- Hearing loss
- Language comprehension (understanding concepts, following directions)
- Tongue thrust
- Reading and phonics
- Resonance and cleft palate (including nasometry and X-ray speech studies)
- Social skills
- Stuttering
- Voice and vocal cord dysfunction
Art Therapy
Art Therapy is used to address the following:
- Alleviate Symptoms of Anxiety, Depression, Emotional Trauma, Addictions, Attention Disorders, Grief and Loss, Dementia, Depression, Eating Disorders, Physical Illness, PTSD, Trauma, Relationship Issues and Much More..
- Reduce Stress,
- Build Self-Esteem
- Improve Communication Skills.
- Improve Problem-Solving Skills.
Art Therapy can also be used as a Diagnostic tool to reveal underlying issues not easily diagnosed by other means.
